To the north of Sydney's Harbour Bridge lies Sydney's Lower North Shore - a picturesque area that includes the suburbs belonging to the City of Willoughby, Municipality of Lane Cove, Municipality of Mosman and the North Sydney Council. The region is a peninsula surrounded by three bodies of water: Lane Cove River to the west, Sydney Harbour to the south, and Middle Harbour to the east.

The Lower North Shore was originally home to the Gorualgal and Cammeraygal people, who thrived on a fishing and gathering lifestyle for thousands of years. The area had limited agricultural potential for early European settlers, so tree felling and boat building became primary industries. Nowadays the area is mainly residential. However, large commercial districts thrive along the Pacific Highway in suburbs such as North Sydney and St Leonards.

The region is full of leafy parks and reserves - from the stunning Lane Cove National Park to Sydney Harbour National Park - which offers a walking trail that scales the cliffs of the harbour. Just nearby is Taronga Zoo, and on the other side of the bridge, the iconic Luna Park.
