Our editorial process

At OpenAgent, we know that every situation is different, so we’ve made it our mission to create in-depth content, tools, resources and market news backed by the latest property analysis and market data to assist you throughout your property selling process.

Online searches for real estate topics can be overwhelming and result in a rabbit hole of different opinions — as a result, it can be hard to know what to do next. You need easy-to-understand and credible information that cuts through the clutter. You need advice that’s written by experts and people with first-hand experience buying and selling property. You need advice that is written by people who know what they’re talking about and who genuinely care. Every year, we help 2 million people who come to OpenAgent seeking answers, information and advice for their real estate questions.

Subject-matter expert writers and sources

Our writers and sources have earned their stripes writing about their respective disciplines. From PropertyTech leaders, through to seasoned journalists, stylists, real estate agents, economists and property commentators, we always aim to select writers and subject matter experts with first-hand experience either selling and buying property, or who are notable voices in their respective fields.

We train all writers on research, sourcing best practices, and we provide regular feedback and ongoing coaching to ensure that all content produced meets our rigorous standards. 

Using authoritative sources

We thoroughly vet all brands, data, and experts that we partner with or mention in our content. This approach is applied for both editorial content and news content across our site. 

Our editorial team

Our highly-skilled editorial team manages all of the content you read. Behind each individual article is the work of several people who:

  • Brainstorm content that is topically relevant
  • Make sure the content is understandable, accurate, helpful and comprehensive
  • Ensure we’re referring to the latest market data at the time of publication
  • Review content for accuracy - if improvements are suggested, they are shared directly with our editorial team to be addressed and implemented. When reviewers review content, it is officially stamped as such in a byline of an article.
