It has a low-key, residential feel of modest beach houses and newer coastal cottages near the shoreline, where fishing, boating and quiet swims are common pastimes. With a population of 27 and a median age of 58, the community is made up of retirees, couple families without children and holiday-home owners; all homes are owner-occupied, split evenly between owned outright and owned with a mortgage. Local roads connect residents to nearby town centres for shopping and services.

Everyday outdoor recreation is a strong feature: sandy beaches, coastal walks and broad water views are all close at hand, and Sultana Point forms the southern end of the Edithburgh–Sultana Point Mosaic Trail, an accessible walking and cycling link with interpretive signage and nautical mosaics that is part of the Walk the Yorke network. The nearby Edithburgh jetties are currently under repair and the jetty that serves Sultana Point will be closed while works are undertaken.
