Between Seal Rocks and Woolgoola lies the Mid North Coast, a stretch of coastline that spans over 400 kilometres, reaching up into the warmer sub-tropical parts of New South Wales. Home to over 300,000 people, the area is considered to regional, however, many built-up towns dot the scenic shore, including Tuncurry, Forster, Port Macquarie, Kempsey, Taree, Armidale and Coffs Harbour. Common industries along the coast include agriculture, fishing, forestry and tourism.

Coastal Eucalypts and rainforests run alongside the Pacific Highway, as it snakes its way along the coast. Many of these spaces are reserves and national parks, which house veins of rivers and lakes, as well as uninterrupted stretches of beach. A stand out is Dorrigo National Park, just inland of the quirky town of Bellingen, which features a breathtaking waterfall and a 'sky walk' viewing platform above the rainforest. North of Woolgoola is Yuraygir National Park, home to the state's longest stretch of undeveloped coastline, a 65km expanse of untouched marine wilderness, complete with bushwalking paths and a population of rare coastal emus.

It is a popular holiday spot, as well as a retirement destination, with many older residents enjoying a change of pace. Further up the coast is Coffs Harbour, the largest city on the Mid North Coast. It became known for a booming banana industry, on which its local economy was built. In modern times, blueberries have become the crop of choice, while tourism and fishing are also predominant. The city is home to the Coffs Harbour Education Campus, a partnership between the Southern Cross University, TAFE and the Coffs Harbour Senior College, which serves as a large education precinct in the area.
