How did you get started in real estate?

I was previously working in the timber industry and I was friends with the agent that I used to rent from, and we kept in contact. They worked in their family business and I just ended up working for them for a period of time.

What is your favourite thing about the area you service?

My favourite thing about the area is its diverse nature - there are a lot of people from different backgrounds. I also love the different types of properties - we sell everything from studio units to $2 - $3 million mansions.

Can you tell us about your most memorable sale?

My most memorable sale was an auction campaign that I ran which a local journalist got involved in it. They wrote a really nice article about it later on and they described being at the auction like 'being at a State of Origin match'.

What’s your biggest strength?

My biggest strengths are my honesty and integrity.

What do you like most about your job?

The people and not needing to be nailed to a desk. I also love being out and about, showing people things, talking to them' and Saturdays! It's the most important, relaxing and rewarding days of the week. There's nothing to get upset about on Saturdays, it just flows.

What makes a good agent?

A good real estate agent has persistence. You've got to have a hide as thick as a rhino's. Being a real estate agent is perceived to be easy, but it's not. Most people leave after the first 3 months of trying

What’s the biggest mistake you see vendors make?

Going with agents that appear superficially glossy, with a lot of listings at any given point. Vendors don't necessarily get a lot of love from those agents - they're just numbers. They tend to not even turn up to their open houses or auctions. They're style over substance. A good agent should be someone local who works the patch and supports the local area.

Why should a vendor choose you?

A vendor should choose me because I'm knowledgeable, easy to talk to and I tell it as it is.
